DEATH OF THE HOLDER OF AMPARO VISAS

As of February 5th, 2021, if the temporary or permanent resident dies, those who are connected to the holder with Amparo visas will still maintain their immigration status without having to apply for a new visa.


Article 65 A. – Preservation of residence for covered persons. - In the cases of temporary and permanent residence visas of protected persons, in which the visa holder has died, the protected foreign person will keep their visa. This includes cases of protection by marriage or de facto union when the cause of separation is caused by the primary visa holder, and includes the protection of the permanent residence visa if the holder becomes naturalized as an Ecuadorian, in accordance with the provisions of the regulations of this law.
