ECUADOR WILL RECEIVE MASKS AND EQUIPMENT FROM CHINA

Ecuador will receive a new donation of masks and medical equipment from China to support the efforts in order to face the coronavirus in the country, where 62 deaths have already been registered and almost 2.000 has been infected, as the Chancellery informed the past Tuesday.

In a statement, he reminded that a first donation of the People’s Republic of China was carried a few days ago to face the health emergency due to the COVID-19.

The Chinese diplomatic representative in Ecuador, Chen Guoyou, delivered 40.000 surgical masks, 1.500 N95 masks, 4.000 protective suits and 100 infrared thermometers, to the vice-president of Ecuador, Otto Sonnenholzner.

The global donation of essential medical supplies made to Ecuador by the Chinese Embassy also includes contributions to some decentralized autonomous governments, reads the official note.

He adds that another delivery will arrive in the coming days from Chinese Foundations Jack Ma y Alibaba, it will include 100.000 masks, 20.000 diagnostic kits and five ventilators, to attend the health emergency in Ecuador.

On their behalf, Chinese enterprises that works in Ecuador will contribute with 80.000 masks, 700 suits and 21.000 protection gloves, which the government has allocated to supply the staff of the Ministry of Public Health in the province of Guayas, the most affected by the COVID-19.

According to official data, 1.397 of 1.966 infected people in the country have been registered in the above-mentioned province.

In the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also thanks the contribution of the private sector and, in particular, the Ecuadorians expats in China who, “with a civic attitude and empathy to their country, have also joined in a solidarity crusade”.

The efforts made by the Ecuadorian Chancellery, the entity responsible of carry out international cooperation, help to materialize this actions within the framework of friendly relationships between both countries and with the active work of the diplomatic representatives of China in Quito and from Ecuador in Pekin, as ended the statement.
